The Royal Wedding

I have been up since 4 am.
I watched the wedding this morning wrapped in a blanket and eating a bagel. Absolutely in awe. The dress, her hair, the carriage....everything you think a royal wedding should be. I loved her bouquet...apparently there were sweet williams, ivy, lily of the valley, and hyacinth. Best wishes to the bride and I am excited about seeing more of the happy couple.
I think I need a nap.

Jimmy Buffett Welcome to Fin Land Tour 2011

I like Jimmy Buffett but I've never called myself a "parrothead". R and I attended this show and both left feeling like we could take the title! We met up with R's friends for a tailgate before the show...because thats how pirates do. R and I before the tequila. Love his hat and shirt! He even bought new sunglasses for the occasion! Maui Jims!
This was our little island in the parking lot. There was a ton of tailgating, it was a well attended show even though it was the middle of the week.
R's new grill!!!! He received this as a birthday gift and it's his own piece of tailgate heaven and the center attention! R is very into charcoal so propane was a new experience. All day King of the Hill was running through my head...Hank would be proud!
R's new grilling tool kit, a birthday gift from his sister.
R and I killed at cornhole. No pictures because it would ruin my game! I wish we had been able to play more but he had to take a break to start our dinner and everyone else was happy relaxing under the tent.
We left around 6:30 to get into the show and I'm so glad we did. Everyone who waited until 7 had to stand in some long lines at the ticket counter. But I wanted a tshirt and I didn't want them to run out of smalls. R bought one for me...he likes to rack up points, silly boy doesn't know he's already won the game!
Welcome to Fin Land - the. show. was. amazing. Beach balls, leis and hoola skirts galore! The main show featured a lot of his hits, Come Monday, Margaritaville, Changes in Latitudes Changes in Attitudes, Fins, Volcano, Cheeseburger in Paradise, and One Particular Harbor. There were additional songs such as Brown Eyed Girl and It's Five O'clock Somewhere. He played two encores that included A Pirate looks at 40 and a couple of new ones. We left during the middle of the last encore...I wanted to beat the crowd and we still had to drive home so I could work the next day. R and I tried to shag but my foot kept getting tangled in the blanket we had spread on the ground. That and there wasn't a lot of room, there were a ton of people on the lawn. Everyone was standing because the ground was still wet from the storms and many were trying to dance in the very limited space. We had fun regardless, I hope R and I can do more shows. This is probably the most interactive one I've been to, Jimmy Buffett talked to the crowd and there was footage throughout his performance of people at the show. The fans in general were such a fun crowd, it was a great escape in the middle of the week and I'm so glad R invited me to go with him and his friends!

Easter 2011

Wow. I can't believe I missed posting a holiday message for my blogger friends, sorry guys! I had a great holiday weekend and I hope everyone else did. Mine was fairly low key until Sunday's holiday festivities. We went to a contemporary church service in the morning which was good but I don't think this will be my church...the music was great and the sermon was easy to get into but there was something missing. It wasn't warm and inviting the way some churches are, I think I'll be sticking with traditional service from now on. My boyfriend's family was nice enough to ask me to join them for Easter lunch. What a spread! Potato salad, macaroni and cheese, bbq chicken, brussel sprouts, fresh corn, deviled eggs, banana pudding, and chocolate creme brulee - everything a holiday meal should include. His mom gave me a chocolate bunny which was my very first, the Easter Bunny never put one in my basket growing up. Speaking of baskets, this is the one I made for R (boyfriend's new reference!). I left it for him to find. I knew I wanted to get him a Red Sox Tervis Tumbler - I have one with my monogram on it and I use it alot when I commute for work and especially during tailgate season. I also bought him some bbq sauce that I love, we plan on cooking out sometime this week and I hope he likes it too. I bought his family a bromiliad for Easter. I was really looking for a spring mum but I couldn't find one and I knew I didn't want to buy a lily. It looked so nice on my entry way table I might get one for my house. It's hard to have a houseplant with a cat. We finished the day at the movies watching Arthur. I like the original so I hoped this wouldn't disappoint and it really didn't. I'm shocked at how much I liked it. I'm not Russell Brand's biggest fan but he definitely played the part well. I watched him on Rachel Ray when he explained how much he related to Arthur and his life before Katy Perry. All in all a fantastic holiday. But the best part, "drumroll"........R and I booked a vacation! I'm so excited but more on that in a seperate post!

The New Guy

He and I have been seeing each other a couple of months and we only have one photo...but I thought I'd share.
He and I have known each other for about seven years and we went on a few random dates after we first met but it didn't work out then. Some days it feels very ironic but I couldn't be happier that he's in my life now.

Update on life and work

I was in desperate need for a blogging hiatus.
March was insane at work...National Nutrition Month and National Kidney Month = tons of education and promotion for a renal dietitian. By the way if you'd like the most updated nutrition research http://www.eatright.org/ is the place to go, well it's where I go anyway for the most honest information out there. I've also been planning a health and resource fair for my clinic which has taken a lot of my free time and provided an abundance of stress!
Enough about work, I have a social life as well. FUN! In the past few weeks I planned a bachelorette party for my BFF...I can't share any of the details until much much closer to the event because I don't want to spoil any surprises and she reads my blog. I will say two things, planning a weekend away is difficult with 7 women that all live in different areas and I planned it for the fall a month before her wedding. I don't want her to think about bridal dieting or any of that crap on this particular weekend - there will be alcohol and good food because, after all, my whole life revolves around food. Shamefully I planned the dinner location before any of the rest of the itinerary.
My birthday was April 1 and the new boyfriend (what? I haven't mentioned him? in a minute!) celebrated his April 5. Really we had one weekend party together and a few family and friend mini-events. He planned a surprise cookout for me, or tried to, but I ruined it. The past couple of weeks have been a blast!
Lilly's birthday is celebrated in April too, she is 4 this year!
This was the cake given to me from my coworkers at a work party:
Oh and the new boy. He's a keeper! He had a florist drop off these beauties on my birthday:
My personal goal is to actually start taking a few photos. I'm not that girl who always whips out a flash at the most photo ready opportunity. I've never been that good. I have a lot of big events this year though and I'd like to take some photos for my blog so I'm going to put in a lot of effort. The next few post will probably be food related because I've been cooking a lot lately - I'm basically addicted to Cooking Channel. Hello, Kelseys Essentials is freaking fantastic. And even when I don't post I still like to catch up on my favorite cooking blogs. In the next few weeks I'm definitely going to be busy. The boy is graduating and I have several reunions with old friends planned along with BFF's engagement party. I'll post when I can but I did want to let my subscribers know I'm still here.
